HEAL Accomplishments & Budget
The NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term® Initiative (NIH HEAL Initiative®) is dedicated to accelerating scientific solutions to address the national overdose crisis, including opioid and stimulant use disorders as well as pain. Through its Public Access and Data Sharing Policy, HEAL generates and openly shares findings and data to create new research opportunities and inform the broader community.
Over the past eight years, HEAL has produced critical knowledge and achievements that are helping improve the lives of individuals and communities affected by overdose, substance use, and pain. Looking ahead, HEAL will continue working with federal agencies, researchers, people with lived and living experience, and key community partners to build on this progress and drive future solutions.
